Did We Not Call it with the I Love New York Sequel?
Did We Not Call it with the I Love New York Sequel? by Roxanne McDonald
If we were in one of the above groups of viewers predicting “I Love New York 2,” we were right on.
But did we, could we feign to, anticipate the components that will make up the even more outrageous series as it spins off its spin-off and spins toward that place of no control?
[WARNING: spoilers, speculations, and sensationalism to follow…some of which has not yet been confirmed.]
First, a casting call for the next line-up of suitors to vie to love New York was made a few weeks ago (at the end of the reunion show, for starters). Purportedly, Sanjaya is a possible applicant. Part of the call for casting includes prompts for a profile and a video. TMZ reports how it someone (production?) discovered a “very odd video message on VH1’s website”—which TMZ offers for re-viewing.
Next, an adjunct or precursor edition called “I Love New York 2–You Cast It!” premieres on Vh1 Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 10:00 p.m..
Not sure if this is all that related to “I Love New York” specifically, but it of course suffices to promote anything even loosely related. “…You Cast It!” is said to include New York and other “Flavor of Love”/”Charm School” girls “speaking their minds.”
Closer to the queen of screen’s heart, though, will be the auditions. According to The New York Post [Online] and writer Don Kaplan, auditions for “I Love New York 2” will take place in—guess where–New York on Sunday, May 13, 2007. New York will be there at the club, Home, on 27th Street, between 12 noon and 6 p.m.
Also according to the Post, New York has said that she looks forward to meeting all “[her] sexy New York males;” that she will be looking for “sincerity” as the “main course this time;”
and that while she doesn’t know if she will “go for a thug, a nerd or Enrico Suavé this time…, she is “gonna peel [her] eyes back and keep them wide open this time,” choosing as the “winner” the “one who loves [her] the most.”
And finally, whereas a producing staff and/or casting director or executive typically does the selecting of the individuals to appear on such reality shows, New York will have carte blanche in the choosing.
Of course, less jaded television aficionados might have more faith—and believe (or at least hope) that one, New York is in it for love and not just super attractive air time; and two, she will find it.
