Come to find out, the producers of “Top Design” and “Shear Genius” are doing a casting call as we wonder where our favorite shows have gone. |
Both Bravo TV reality competition series season 2 have yet to be announced or promoed, as per the official website, which features casting calls and downloadable (pdf) application forms that apparently went up in December of 2007.
In season one of “Top Design,” we saw the gentle genius of Matt Lorenz beat out the
crabbiest and kookiest of contestants. Then we seemed to lose the picture for what seemed like forever. Well, it appears “Top Design” will be a perennial, spring experience, the calls for the new cast just coming out on December 12th or so of 2007.
Executive producers Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz are again spearheading (this time with ammo from the production company Magical Elves) the search for the top interior designers in the nation to compete in simulated client-driven challenges, one holding out longest for a grand prize of $100,000 and a feature in El Décor or another high-profile design magazine.

The first comment one hears (or reads) is how “Make Me a Supermodel” will be little more than an “America’s Next Top Model” knockoff. |
Then again, Bravo TV, with its highly reputed “Top Chef,” “Project Runway,” and “Top Design,” has little worries that “Make Me a Supermodel” will fall to ersatz infamy. And besides not using a celebrity who sounds like she is imitating Tyra Banks (see that horrid “Crowned” for such blatant rip-offs of style and whatnot), “Make Me a Supermodel” will feature males, men, boys!!!
Now that’s refreshing.

Besides wondering how that is going to work for the superlative trainers, who in the
previous seasons were each assigned to a team, we get to meet a disparate line-up of contestants, dressed in a rainbow of hues:
BROWN TEAM: husband and wife Curtis and Mallory, weighing, respectively, 381 and 217 pounds (total weight: 598 pounds)
PINK TEAM mother and daughter Bette-Sue and Ali, weighing, respectively, 261 and 234 pounds (total weight: 495 pounds)
ORANGE TEAM mother and son Jackie and Dan, weighing, respectively, 246 and 310 pounds (total weight: 556 pounds)
YELLOW TEAM ex-husband and wife Paul and Kelly, weighing, respectively, 303 and 271 pounds (total weight: 574 pounds)

Remember how in one particular street-hawking challenge one season, a more tendentious (and cocky) contestant tried to sell, oh, I don’t know, ice cream, for a thousand bucks?
Nothing came of it, but nothing against the rules there, evidently, either.
But how about when the task is to sell wieners and you who are committed to the challenge are a super-celebrity? Is it fair to call on wealthy fellows and try to get a celebrity price for a skin tube of ground-up guts and ear flaps?
According to Celebrity Spider, the celebrities’ first team task of vending hot dogs on the New York streets will yield efforts to take advantage of rich contacts and to solicit for 5 or 10k per dog. Somebody evokes the attention of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Somebody else tries for eliciting support from David Wright of the New York Mets.
