Age of Love Comes to NBC with a Roar and a Meow

Age of Love Comes to NBC with a Roar and a Meow by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket New reality TV dating match-making show will feature the Cougars and the Kittens, all on the hunt for one tennis-playing prey.

Sounds so animalistic, doesn’t it? That is the intended implied premise of the new “Age of Love”—reality TV show premiering Monday, July 18, 2007.

Thirteen women will try for the love of tennis star Mark Philippoussis. Though I have not yet heard the reason for the imbalance of numbers, six of the women will be the Kittens, the ones in their twenties, and seven will be the Cougars, the ones in their forties.

Apparently, the 30 year-old tennis pro will know their ages (will not have to guess like the “Gay, Straight, or Taken” or “Playing it Straight” participants had to). But for the skeptics who have decided Philippoussis (and I will soon get tired of

typing THAT name in here, so hope someone comes up with an animal totem replacement for the bachelor, soon—Pretty Bird? Monkey Boy?) will go straight for the barely legals, we have been told to think again.
The producers promise we will be as surprised as they were.
Philippoussis has said—in introductory sessions with the “Age of Love” team that he is not one to kiss every woman in the game.
And the women were initially not informed of the “twists” to the game.

The Cougars (in their late 30s, 40s)

The “older” women, when they auditioned, were told the show was “a show about successful, empowered, positive women,” reports Reality TV World, quoting producer and creator, JD Roth.

Angela is a 40-year-old property manager from Lakeside, Michigan. She has been married twice and has a 21-year-old son.

Jayanna is a 38-year-old mortgage loan officer from Newport, California. She has been married once.

Jennifer is a 48-year-old executive assistant for the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers from Carson, California. She has been married twice.

Jodie is a 46-year-old commercial real estate company VP from Dallas, Texas. She has been married once, and has an 8-year-old son.

Kelli is a 40-year-old legal secretary from Los Angeles, California.

Lynn is a 40-year-old mortgage make-up artist from Nashville, Tennessee.

Maria is a 42-year-old photographer from Playa Del Ray, California.

She has been married once.

The Kittens (in their 20s)

And the Kittens, when they arrived to see their “competition”, were not intimidated, either, says Roth.

Adelaide is a 26-year-old Esquire magazine editor from Manhattan Beach, California.

Amanda is a 26-year-old financial planner’s assistant from Nashville, Tennessee.

Lauren is a 27-year-old lighting consultant from Greenwich, Connecticut.

Mary is a 24-year-old hemodialysis technician from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Megan is a 21-year-old Loyola University student from Chicago, Illinois.

Tessa is a 23-year-old executive assistant from Peoria, Arizona.

The “Age of Love” Bachelor

Mark Philippoussis is a professional tennis player nicknamed “Scud” from Melbourne, Astralia, who now lives in Nevada. From the picture above, it appears Mark has been married at least once.
Another Tessa, the science of longevity, and a tan and muscled nice guy with an Aussie accent (oh, how we love the Aussie accent).

Quite a jungle to start.
