Amazing Race 10 Participants Big on Sharing – Yay Teams!

Amazing Race Participants Big on Sharing – Yay Teams! by Roxanne McDonald

One of the coolest behaviors on The Amazing Race is how some of the teams share information and tasking.

The concept of kindness was lost last season on The Amazing Race when Rob and Amber (who up until then I was all gung ho in favor of winning the race) passed by fellow competitors who had gotten into a wreck in their matching jeep. Turns out the camera man was “only” severely injured, but most of the teams behind the Brian and Greg team at least stopped, for God’s sake. I mean the jeep was upturned, bodies were flung about….

This season, either the producers and cast of Amazing Race coached and admonished the new pairs ahead of time…or this bunch is of a much more beneficent sort: in episode 4, teams shared. In episode 5 (which aired Oct. 15th), teams shared.

The NA/AA boys, Tyler and James, for example, admit that it is the right thing to do to share info about flights and such with Sarah and Peter and the “queens”

(if I heard that right!). Kentucky, Erwin and Godwin, and another team also trade vital information, as well.

But then, sigh, you have the selfish bitchy ones. For instance, in episode 4 in Vietnam, the Lyn team (Lyn and Karlyn) just finish saying how great it is to be given a break [by some total non-English-speaking stranger], and then refuse to get involved when a team comes along in hopes of getting a little bit of a leg up.

In episode 5, Peter [and Sarah] are at a ticket counter at the same time the blondes (Dustin and Kandice) are at another teller window. Peter hollers over to ask what their tickets say, telling the cameras that they (he and his partner) had every intention of sharing their flight info—since they hit the airline first—but the blondes refuse, sticking up their noses and later saying, since Peter just looked over their shoulders anyway, that it is every one for him or herself from now on.

How rude.

The trick is to work it together, to work each other, especially during virtually harmless wait times when all the teams pile up at the airport or on one of two planes anyway…. But I suppose some don’t believe in karma.

Ah well, at least the ones being all selfish are not self-proclaimed Christians swearing at and trying to cheat poor villagers out of their earnings (ahem, you of a couple seasons back know who you are and not only experienced the failed karma but exposed yourself to the world as selfish and cruel and non-Christians…as individuals who behave antithetically to your so-called great and religious and spiritual selves.

I’m done. Not with the show, just with the nasty Nellies.
