Here We Go Down the Rabbit Hole

Here We Go Down the Rabbit Hole by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket It’s a summer with Alice in Wonderland themes, alright: methinks I see a few familiar characters.

Let’s just get to the Big Brother 8 denizens as they have clearly been cast, shall we? That’s as we can infer thus far….

The White Rabbit – student Jessica exaggerates situations and her responses—to the point where a rival is one who owes you five bucks from high school.

The Queen of HeartsJen is full of self-importance, is already scamming or scheming, and seems to be the one who will just as easily do away with others as inferiors with a Gordian thwack as try to work them with any degree of equity.
The King of Hearts – The sensitive Nick has shown his observation skills as well as his ability to determine balance and fairness as he sees it. [When Dustin was thrust upon Joe, for instance, he noted how now Joe is no longer the easy-going guy who entered the Big Brother house, and added how that just was not right.]

The Flamingo used as a bowling ball, the Cards in the Deck used as pawns – Eric should really be the Cheshire Cat, but would any deign to manipulate HIM? No, so since America gets to “pull the strings” of this puppet, Eric will be he-who-is-manipulated-from-without.

The Dormouse – the sort of cute but still creepy little Daniele is quiet, sleepy-headed, and quick to scurry away to hibernation when conflict surfaces.

The Mad HatterDick has a great deal of confidence masquerading as control, but he will likely also reveal some nutty genius under that costume of his [in lieu of the hat and the garb, we get tats and retro-punk hair, for starters.]

The March Hare – as urban (or country) myth would have it, the March Hare goes mad during mating season. As could possibly be the case with Mike, he is going to get mixed up in some messy mating in the BB house.

The Duchess – she has from the start said she plans to run the Big Brother house as she runs her business(es), has made it as the first HoH, and has shown what could possibly reveal a duality of personality, so Kail will fit the Duchess title for now. She also has the stuff to go up against the Queen of Hearts, as well.

The Dodo – also a possible contender for a role switch down the line, for now Joe is clearly the mayor of socialization, the maven of mental manipulation who comes off as a minor leader who has his finger on the pulse of all that is the Caucus competition.

The Cheshire Cat – some may balk, but Carol is a perfect fit for now: she is already annoyed by those she is annoying,

and with her gift of elusion, will be antagonizing some good fights, I would wager…as she sits back and grinnnns.
The Mock TurtleAmber is all over the place, already hot for Nick, the King of Hearts [Hey, she doesn’t KNOW she’s a turtle, a mock one at that.]—already making her intentions, her position, and her fate questionable.

The Gryphon – He may turn out to be the Duck instead, but for now, Zach appears to have a dual strength: he is nice enough and he is playing wise from the start. [As he comments in the Diary Room, for example, the women are hot, but if it is between hooking up and playing the game, well, the women will have to wait.]

The Hookah-smoking CaterpillarJoe is pit against his rival, his ex-, but he is also way calm about this fact, even putting up with all kinds of smear and smack about STDs and whatnot. Joe seems to be the type who, when attacked for his diminutive stature, for instance, would merely stoically retort that his is a “very good height indeed.”

Alice Jameka has been tossed down the hole with all of these strange and discomfiting folks, has been made subject to the shenanigans, made witness to the worries, made unsure by the elements. But I would almost put money down on Jameka using her wits to carry her far into the adventure, challenging the folks with “But how can I have more if I haven’t had any, yet?” kind of logic, and making it back to above ground—where she will wonder if this was not all a dream.
