I’m not sure if it was the “couples thing” or just a lame cast of hamsters, but this season of Big Brother has been a huge disappointment.      Something is wrong with the cast…

It’s not so bad that I will not watch it, but it’s been pretty much a drag and difficult to endure at times. Low energy and lacking of real fun and entertainment value.

Maybe now that they dumped the couples angle - and allowing them to compete as individuals - it will start to feel more like Big Brother than a spin off reality show.

I never did understand why a show that has a winning format with loyal fans feels the need to take a drastic departure. Hey it’s just not the same to see PAIRS of contestants play the game. Sure, I guess it could cause some extra drama and add new twists, which I am sure was their intention, but it also removes some of the factors that makes the show so special in the first place.

Now, I do admit that I am not in love with this cast. From the beginning I found most of them to be annoying and I can’t honestly say that I am liking or rooting for any one of them.

I guess that now would be as good as a time as ever to do a recap of the guests and my takes on them…

Alex - seemed ok, but he was really boxed in by playing with his partner Amanda. He got voted off with her and then recently America almost voted him back on. Almost did not get along with Amanda - then again who could?

Amanda - “almost cute” in a quirky way, but she had a very annoying personality. This season, the gals were so bland that you had to root for the almost hot ones such as Amanda. She was “amost cute” but slightly light bulb shaped with a pbag… you know… she was almost hot like “last call” at 2 am in a bar cute… sorry! But that’s how it seems this season on Big Brother. No standout knockouts… and Amanda was fun to wath but not a hot babe.

Ryan - Slightly pudgy and definitely bland personality wise, it never seemed like Ryan and secret real life girlfriend Jen (who was evicted early on) belonged together. She was too hot for him (then again he gave a good massage I guess). As it turns out Ryan has stayed in the game longer than expected and he is the closest to being some one I would root for, but last week he made a few bad calls and bowed down to group pressure. I think he’ll be out very soon.

Allison - Ryan’s playing partner on Big Brother knew that he had a girlfriend. This made it awkward for them as partners. Allison also made a really stupid move early on pretending she was a lesbian and a secret partner with Sheila. Bad strategy… How could you respect a player that would make a bad joke and then play it up as strategy… Not very samrt… Lacking in the brains department… Yet Allison was also almost hot - and actually was the hottest in the house in my opinion. Yes - I’ll say it - she was the most attractive of the girls. But looks can only take you so far… She had an annoying personality. I don’t think I could handle much of her manipulating and scheming in real life and it seemed I was not the only one to think that as she got booted - even when they gave the house a second chance to evict either her or Ryan. I must say though - I did feel sorry for her when she did get evicted. She went for a shrieking screaming high when she got a 2nd chance to possibly the lowest of lows when she got sent packing in a matter of minutes… Wicked and mean Big Brother… Her sadness was so deep I could almost feel it and it made me want to hug her and tell her everything would be just fine and then have some “make up sex” afterwards.

James - there is something about James that makes me feel queesy… I’m not sure if I like him or not… I don’t hate him, but something is odd about him… He almost has it, but then again he is slightly too weird to identify with. I don’t know if you saw the Showtime Too Big Brother After Dark footage of that orgy after stripper pool party where they had a strip club stripper lap dance party featuring Natlaie and Chelsea going nude and grinding nation wide, but James joined in and got naked on tv too and and was also making out with all the girls in the pool. I’m not holding that against James, I’m just saying that maybe that has a little something to do with my feelings about him. Also he seems to be kind of a loner. I am glad he hooked up with Chelsea. But he never seemed confident that was real, or that is how it appeared.

Chelsia - James’ soulmate and partner Chelsia is also “almost hot”. She is pretty cute and if she wasn’t so smitten with James she may have had a better chance in the game. Now that they are split up I must admit I am waiting to see if Chelsia strays away from James. So far not. I guess I am rooting for her a little bit. It was nice to see her topless and grinding like a stripper on that After Dark strip party orgy footage a few weeks ago. Oddly enough - Big Brother producers so far have opted to keep that stag party off the regular episodes. It was just too hard core dirty I guess… (read more…)

Big Brother After Dark on Showtime Too

Well, another season of Big Brother is upon us and that means more behind the scenes footage with BB After Dark on Showtime!

My HD Recorder (DVR) is already getting stuffed full of that raw footage and frankly I do not have time or the patience to watch a whole lot of it… mainly because I don’t want to spoil the CBS Big Brother episodes. (read more…)

Ranting About Big Brother 8 on CBS

Hi, it’s Mike Liebner here from TV Robot with an updated rant and rave session about the reality TV show Big Brother 8 on CBS and it’s cast of houseguests.

In this article I’ll review what’s been going on in the Big Brother house, plus dish dirt on all of the cast from a to z.   No holds barred!

To put things into perspective it’s Friday, August 3, 2007 and it’s been 29 days since Big Brother 8 premiered on July 5th.

Wow! Has a month really gone by already? That means that the Summer too is half over… or is the summer “half full”???

The last complete BB8 rant I did on the full crew was on July 10th. Now with 24 days of viewing and digesting Big Brother 8 and the companion Showtime series “Big Brother After Dark” I have changed some of my opinions. You can see the original Scandalous Big Brother 8 Rants and Raves Here

By the way, if you really enjoy Big Brother 8 and like to read more into than the show provides, Reality Remix on Fox Reality Network is a great show that often does recaps and offers opinions.

Lately Reality Remix has had Big Brother alumni Marcellas on a few times discussing the shows goings on with host Kennedy. (Hi Marcellas! You’ve been very good on the show!)

Have a watch if you can! Watching Reality Remix every once in a while will make you feel like you know what’s going on with the other reality TV shows we do not watch.

First off I need to say that this crew of houseguests is the most unlikable batch I have ever seen. This is the first season I have watched that I find it difficult to identify with any one guest. Looking at the lineup overall it is disappointing. I simply don’t like too many of them. That said however, I am enjoying watching the show this year. Although last night when they evicted Nick I must say that I was feeling a bit low and even down on the show. I was mad and felt the energy level of the show was way too negative. Too many jerks and wimps in the house.

Last Nick joined Carol, Joe and Mike as evicted Big Brother houseguests.

The episode last night was a wicked and mean spirited one as we saw more of the bad side of Dick than ever. I know the shenanigans weren’t planned out, but it seemed to be a heavy episode with more drama and negative karma than ever.

I almost had to go wash off after all the sludge from that episode…

But, I pushed on after that episode ended and even watched a little bit of Big Brother After Dark and got back in the groove a bit.

It’s Friday, the morning after as I write this and I have forgiven the BB8 producers  pretty much for playing with me the way they did last night and I’m looking at it a bit more optimistically.

The main point I need to make is you do NOT need to like them to enjoy the show. Possibly in fact Big Brother 8 may be more fun to watch when you LOVE TO HATE THEM!

Written on Wednesday, July 18th, 2007.  Big Brother After Dark is running each night from 9 PM to 12 PM PST on Showtoo (Showtime Too - two, err whatever it’s called). Showtime Too is available as a premium channel. I get it with my DIRECTV lineup of satellite channels, so I did not have to pay extra just to get Big Brother 8 Super Sized.

What exactly is Big Brother After Dark?

It’s LIVE footage of the Big Brother 8 household shown exactly as it airs live and unedited and uncensored. What you see is really happening and the only editing is done when they switch cameras. For example one minute they may be by the hot tub catching the crew as they party. They may suddenly switch to a bedroom where a few cast members may be strategizing. It’s all live but they can obviously only show one thing at a time. So they jump from camera to camera catching the action as it unfolds.

Big Brother After Dark is worth watching, but it is mind boggling how much they’re dropping on us.

If you’re obsessed or even consumed, maybe you’ll welcome the 21 hours of Big Brother 8 live footage showing each week on Showtime for Big Brother After Dark.

Because of the sheer volume of footage (and it’s live) it’s kind of mind numbing to watch. Here I am 13 days after the July 5th season premiere and I am simply overwhelmed by how much BB8 I have to watch if I want to. I mean hey - the regular show Big Brother 8 on CBS shows 3 new episodes each week and has already dropped 4 one hour episodes on us. That’s a fair amount of TV to watch considering the show has been on less than 2 weeks.

Add to that Big Brother After Dark and today on the 18th we already have 12 three hour blocks from Showtoo. One more coming tonight for a total of 13 episodes x 3 = 39 hours of BB8 action. Sure, I know the live internet feed goes 24 hours a day but for some reason I have never been compelled to watch that. After all it’s live only, right? They don’t record the action so we can watch it when we feel like it, right???

And that’s what’s pretty cool about Big Brother After Dark. Right now I have 12 three hour blocks of Big Brother After Dark recorded on Tivo (it’s stuffed to the gills). That’s insane! Who can watch that much???

At first - when it started getting recorded on Tivo I was afraid to watch it because I know that what Showtime is showing live with Big Brother After Dark may not have been shown yet on the regular show. And I’m not one of those types to revel in learning spoilers. I want to see the show exactly as the producers intended it to be seen.

As a result I have been afraid to watch Big Brother After Dark and only have recently begun watching. In fact, one night last week before the elimination ceremony on Thursday July 12th, I turned on my TV and before I could look away I saw Amber on the screen as Tivo was recording Big Brother After Dark. I tried as fast as I could to turn that off but it was too late. I saw Amber which meant they MUST have voted Carol off. That spoiled the real BB8 when I watched it as I knew Carol was getting the axe. (read more…)

Big Brother 8 is my Summer Sweetheart

Hey - it’s that time of year again! The time for conniving and back stabbing and possibly even some showmance action! 

Big Brother 8 and hot Summertime fun is here again!      Boy - it’s my favorite time of year with my favorite hot Summer reality tv show Big Brother back on CBS in full effect!

That means I/we can now dedicate 3 days or more to the adventures of the BB8 houseguests for a Big Brother Summer of fun!

I say 3 days or more because I just found myself re-watching the season premiere episode a 2nd time (it was recorded on my 2nd Tivo)! And you know what… watching Big Brother 8 a 2nd time was actually enjoyable (although I did fast forward a lot).

So - is there enough Big Brother 8 for you this Summer???

Can you live without Big Brother the other 4 nights of the week the show is NOT airing a new episode???

Strange but last night (Saturday) I found myself wishing it was on… you can nver get enough of a good thing!

We now have Big Brother 8 to keep us entertained on 3 nights each week - Thursday - Sunday (new one coming tonight) and Tuesdays…. (read more…)
