Big Brother Fans deserve HD. I am still upset.
Let me just say that I like Big Brother and it is fun to watch. Big Brother 15 has a good cast and it’s been exciting thanks to some of the changes they have made to how people are nominated for eviction.
Some of the house guests are really fun to watch – especially when they self-destruct which is happening earlier this season!
That said, CBS and the producers of BB15 are really blowing it and sticking it to Big Brother fan’s by what they are NOT doing – you know not broadcasting in HD High Definition like all other tv shows.
I guess the producers and CBS just don’t care about the loyal viewers. After all right now CBS and producers of Big Brother are enjoying some good buzz and improved ratings by getting in the news because of the “racism controversy” involving stupid mean remarks by a house guest.
I do not want to diminish the hurt feelings of the other house guests who are upset by the racism, but this is just one person being stupid and mean – it is CBS trying to make the RACISM bring in more viewers and buzz. I get it. That’s how tv works.
You get that part – why not the part about delivering a high quality broadcast?
It is frustrating because there is not much I can do. Either I watch and accept it or else. It feels like they are forcing me to accept something.
Usually when TV shows do stupid things or are bad or are NOT in HD I just SKIP OVER IT and walk away. You don’t think much about what you are missing when you are not a longtime viewer.
But when you love a show like Big Brother and you feel they are just blowing it and doing annoying stuff – it is harder because you can’t walk away from it like you can a dud new series.
And that’s why it hurts more. It feels like CBS and the producers know they have a loyal base and therefor can skimp on upgrading the cameras to HD and be cheap about making the show truly competitive with broadcasting in 2013.
How come Survivor could do it? Didn’t it cost them more money to upgrade their cameras to HD? But Mark Burnett is a pro and they accepted that HD was the standard years ago.
For some reason Big Brother can’t make the change and are the last to broadcast in NON-HD. I’m sure they are losing viewers who are flipping channels and are seeing the old non-hd screen size. I do it. I do not watch shows that are not in HD. They usually suck and are old – why would I watch them when all the other channels have nice big fantastic pictures of high quality?
I find it hard to believe I am one of the only ones publicly calling them out on not broadcasting in HD. Everyone in the USA these days has HD tv sets and and every show on all of the networks, big and small, except Big Brother is in HD.
That’s insulting. They’re taking advantage of our loyalty and giving us a poor viewing experience and are sticking it to us. If they know they’re doing this it’s bad but maybe they’re just bad at their jobs and don’t understand the importance of the viewing experience and how fans of a show feel.
I’m not saying the producers or the network in charge of Big Brother are complete idiots – they’re not – they do have a good cast who is doing enough to keep the show in the air. The show is getting noticed more and people are getting more engaged because the fans are spreading the word and the executives are exploiting the controversy.
This racism thing for example… CBS and the show are milking this big time. Did you see the full screenwarning message at the beginning of the show. The black screen saying the network does not condone or agree with the racism in the house? Give me a break. Like anything that is happening in a competition reality tv show could really get the network in trouble. It’s a reality tv show and people do stupid stuff – it’s not reflective of the producers or network showing it – but hey – I understand you guys want to milk the moment and make this “racism” thing a news item so more people will talk and watch.
It is working because people who do not watch the show and know I am watching it are asking me about the controversial house guest who is a racist. It’s a news item which is good PR.
That’s good marketing to get the word out – but you should be more considerate of the many fans who religiously watch Big Brother and throw them a bone and improve the viewing experience by going HD like we deserve.
At the very least the LIVE eviction shows on each Thursday which are taped in a STUDIO with a studio audience should be broadcast in HD. What is your excuse there? Show Julie Chen and the audience and extra features in HD and show the HOUSE STUFF in NON-HD. Even though that still sucks it’s better than dumbing down everything.
Now – what is the story with TVGN (TV Guide Network) and Big Brother After Dark?
It too is not in HD and they are constantly CENSORING the dialogue. They are trigger happy and ruining the experience.
You can barely listen to what the houseguests are saying because whoever is sitting on the censor button is constantly hitting it and blocking those dangerous words.
The live stuff shouldn’t be censored. It’s not network tv. F/X and other networks don’t censor those 9 words, do they? At least Showtime was fun because they ran Big Brother After Dark without cutting out the dirty dialogue. TVGN cuts out whole sentences so you can’t understand what they are talking about. It is next to worthless to watch BB After Dark on TVGN.
They say they have gotten better and that it was the first episode they were trigger happy – sorry – you guys at TVGN must not be fans and are not watching because you rarely can get a full sentence and understand any dialogue.
Now Big Brother itself is not the kind of tv show that should be squeeky clean. The show would be much better on another network.
You are successful despite the fact this kind of a show would do better if it was on F/X or another modern network that wasn’t so paranoid about protecting us from swear words and pixelizing butt cracks or cleavage. (CBS is the worst – they don’t want us to see butt cracks ever!)
It’s 2013 so stop trying to pretend you are Disney in 1975 – we are not offended by a handful of everyday words almost all people use.
Now – one more thing – Big Brother producers – owners of the rights have been lazy and NOT releasing old seasons of Big Brother on DVD. They released a few but not all.
That’s too bad. I gave up bitching about that a long time ago. The producers are too busy or don’t care enough or don’t want that little bit of money. it’s not about satisfying the fans – it’s purely an economic thing, right – like with the cameras???
Now – since you are not filming new Big Brother episodes in HD, it will be even harder for you to put out the seasons on DVD because people who watch DVDS on their high def tv screens want the best quality they can get.
You will lose by not filming in HD as DVD purchasers will be disappointed. But you don’t care about DVD sales. Oh that’s right.
In any event – this anger over the lack of High Definition is taking over from what would normally be a much more enthusiastic viewing experience of Big Brother.
I’d normally be writing about the house guests and the racism and the controversy, but here I am feeling ripped off and angry and spending my valuable writing time bitching about a tv show I am enjoying.
I guess the fun writing may come some other time if I can get over the hard feelings.
For now I will just say I do dig the show – the cast is good – it’s fun to watch and see all the crazy shit going on.
Last night, Sunday July 15th,2013 was a great episode (episode 8 by the way) as it was fun to watch the losing part of the house melt down. It was also fun to watch the footage from TVGN from Friday and Saturday AM (the days before Sunday’s show).
In less than 3 weeks the house is already getting divided and the true colors of some mean spirited people are coming out bigger, bolder and sooner than usual.
I must say that idea for the BB MVP and adding the 3rd nominee was a smart one. It did freshen up the game and make it more fun.
Now if you could just all get on the same page and make BB the best it could be we would all be happy.
Big Brother 14 on CBS has been really good this season!
Despite the fact they are so low budget they haven’t yet upgraded to showing us an HD show, CBS has gotten lucky and the cast has made it a fun and exciting season.
Sure – it feels like the stone age watching a show that is NOT broadcast in HIGH DEFINITION like EVERY other network tv show, but hey – it’s still Big Brother and it’s good tv.
Now, while I am griping I do have to say the TITLES are also LOW BUDGET with a bad remix of the theme. Also the pixelation on that purple edit reworking is a disgrace for a network tv show.
I understand times are tough but to skimp on opening credits and show a pixelated opening that isn’t even HD??? Oh boy.
So – if you are like me and have bene having fun you’ll want to know more about what has been going on.
The Big Brother on Tumblr blog has lots of great pics and info to help you enjoy BB14.
More also at the CBS BB site.
The reset button has changed the game and Big Brother 14 is a whole new adventure!
|Big Brother is a lot of fun to watch and talk about with friends!|
We’re only a little over 3 weeks into this summer’s season of Big Brother 14 on CBS and they’ve already thrown us a major game changer.
The 4 coaches who were leading Big Brother teams and NOT playing in the game are NOW players.
I guess that’s ok – but I am sure the houseguests don’t like it much.
Coaches Janelle, Britney, Boogie and Dan are no longer just leading their teams but now they’re playing against them. No more teams!
From the standpoint of adding twists and new angles, this could add some tension and fun moments watching the anger impact the game play.
America voted and brought them back in. If they didn’t come back it sounded like they were ready to bring back evicted players. Makes sense as the cast this year was smaller (not including the coaches).
All in all it’s a fun summer so far on Big Brother 14 – but there are a few negatives and I’ll go into those later. For now let’s just focus on having a summer good time with BB14!
See the houseguests uncut on Big Brother After Dark on Showtime. It’s been fun this year!

If you’re a big fan of the reality tv show Big Brother 14 on CBS you’ll definitely want to go checkout Big Brother 14 on Tumblr
The Big Brother Blog at Tumblr is updated all the time! It’s really fresh!
One reason Tumblr is so cool for finding out news about Big Brother is that it’s super easy for people to blog on Tumblr because it’s a “microblog”! That means people can post short little blips, pictures, videos or even full articles – but the key is it’s fast and it’s fun and therefor a LOT of great stuff ends up on Tumblr!
Compare that to regular blogs like this one where you really need a little more SUBSTANCE for an article.
Tumblr is the opposite and only requires a picture if that’s all you want!
And a great feature of Tumblr is that people will find the good stuff and REBLOG it! They’ll put it on their blog and hot stuff can pass hands like wildfire.
Take for example the Team Britney post on the Big Brother on Tumblr blog. It’s been gaining momentum and is being passed around like crazy!
Also – some blogs like this one allow you to ask questions or even POST about Big Brother on the blog itself. That’s pretty vool!
Well – that’s all for now – get over to the tumblr blog and get in on the action for Big Brother 14!
OK – so Hayden won. Big deal.
|OH NO – summer is over and so is Big Brother!|
If Lane or Enzo would have won I would have said the same thing.
I just did not care if any of the BRA-gade (should be brigade, right?) made it to the end.
It’s not that I disliked them – I just found all 3 of them to be boring.
Enzo had some moments being the jackass he was – so at least he had character and was a little unique.
Lane and Hayden had to force the words out and as a result were boring to watch.
Matt – the brains of the brigade was conceited and arrogant – so he was at least fun to see make an ass of himself.
And Britney – while opinionated and mean spirited towards other women-folks, was a breath of fresh air and fun to look at. OK, she was hot! I dug the way she looked and her quirky personality grew on me. (more…)
TV Robot Exclusive Article on Big Brother 10 by Mike Liebner
Wow, I must say I am really impressed this season with how good Big Brother 10 is.
The whole CBS Big Brother experience seems much better than last fall which seemed to be thrown together haphazardly and not really embraced by the producers (or the CBS Early Show).
CBS Big Brother is Great This Season!
Best show on tv this Summer!
Everything seems just right – everything from the casting, to the new live audience format for the eviction ceremonies (on Thrsday nights) to the extras we’re getting such as REGULAR appearances by Julie and the houseguests on the CBS Late Late Show with Craig Fergusan are welcome additions this season.
Craig has a blast with the houseguests! What a great idea! I’m a big fan of his and he is perfect for this!
Also back are the morning segments on the CBS Early Show each Friday with Julie Chen featuring more from the most recent evicted houseguest.
While I would prefer that the Early Show segments were LIVE the morning after, instead of recorded the night before – I guess it’s ok that they tape them the same night as they were evicted.
I must say I do prefer the old format where the evicted houseguests have had a good nights sleep (or not) to think about things instead of a continued interview minutes after getting shafted. Reflection the day after is much different than the way they must feel just minutes after getting booted form the Big Brother House!
Big Brother 10 starts up again July 13, 2008
|I wonder if this next season of Big Brother will be better than the last one this past winter??? I have great expectations for Big Brother 10 on CBS!|
I also wonder if the Early Show will be interviewing the ejected houseguests like they used to do? They did not do that this past winter for some reason… nor did they do the usual Survivor interviews.
Well, I sure could use something decent on tv to watch! Big Brother 10 might just be the ticket!
Big Brother 9 Cast Rundown and secret tales of the “Big Brother After Dark” Stripper Orgy Spit Swapping Pool Party (sorry that is not a spolier – it happened weeks ago and was never shown on the CBS show) Rant by Mike Liebner
|I’m not sure if it was the “couples thing” or just a lame cast of hamsters, but this season of Big Brother has been a huge disappointment.
Something is wrong with the cast…
It’s not so bad that I will not watch it, but it’s been pretty much a drag and difficult to endure at times. Low energy and lacking of real fun and entertainment value.
Maybe now that they dumped the couples angle – and allowing them to compete as individuals – it will start to feel more like Big Brother than a spin off reality show.
I never did understand why a show that has a winning format with loyal fans feels the need to take a drastic departure. Hey it’s just not the same to see PAIRS of contestants play the game. Sure, I guess it could cause some extra drama and add new twists, which I am sure was their intention, but it also removes some of the factors that makes the show so special in the first place.
Now, I do admit that I am not in love with this cast. From the beginning I found most of them to be annoying and I can’t honestly say that I am liking or rooting for any one of them.
I guess that now would be as good as a time as ever to do a recap of the guests and my takes on them…
Alex – seemed ok, but he was really boxed in by playing with his partner Amanda. He got voted off with her and then recently America almost voted him back on. Almost did not get along with Amanda – then again who could?
Amanda – “almost cute” in a quirky way, but she had a very annoying personality. This season, the gals were so bland that you had to root for the almost hot ones such as Amanda. She was “amost cute” but slightly light bulb shaped with a pbag… you know… she was almost hot like “last call” at 2 am in a bar cute… sorry! But that’s how it seems this season on Big Brother. No standout knockouts… and Amanda was fun to wath but not a hot babe.
Ryan – Slightly pudgy and definitely bland personality wise, it never seemed like Ryan and secret real life girlfriend Jen (who was evicted early on) belonged together. She was too hot for him (then again he gave a good massage I guess). As it turns out Ryan has stayed in the game longer than expected and he is the closest to being some one I would root for, but last week he made a few bad calls and bowed down to group pressure. I think he’ll be out very soon.
Allison – Ryan’s playing partner on Big Brother knew that he had a girlfriend. This made it awkward for them as partners. Allison also made a really stupid move early on pretending she was a lesbian and a secret partner with Sheila. Bad strategy… How could you respect a player that would make a bad joke and then play it up as strategy… Not very samrt… Lacking in the brains department… Yet Allison was also almost hot – and actually was the hottest in the house in my opinion. Yes – I’ll say it – she was the most attractive of the girls. But looks can only take you so far… She had an annoying personality. I don’t think I could handle much of her manipulating and scheming in real life and it seemed I was not the only one to think that as she got booted – even when they gave the house a second chance to evict either her or Ryan. I must say though – I did feel sorry for her when she did get evicted. She went for a shrieking screaming high when she got a 2nd chance to possibly the lowest of lows when she got sent packing in a matter of minutes… Wicked and mean Big Brother… Her sadness was so deep I could almost feel it and it made me want to hug her and tell her everything would be just fine and then have some “make up sex” afterwards.
James – there is something about James that makes me feel queesy… I’m not sure if I like him or not… I don’t hate him, but something is odd about him… He almost has it, but then again he is slightly too weird to identify with. I don’t know if you saw the Showtime Too Big Brother After Dark footage of that orgy after stripper pool party where they had a strip club stripper lap dance party featuring Natlaie and Chelsea going nude and grinding nation wide, but James joined in and got naked on tv too and and was also making out with all the girls in the pool. I’m not holding that against James, I’m just saying that maybe that has a little something to do with my feelings about him. Also he seems to be kind of a loner. I am glad he hooked up with Chelsea. But he never seemed confident that was real, or that is how it appeared.
Chelsia – James’ soulmate and partner Chelsia is also “almost hot”. She is pretty cute and if she wasn’t so smitten with James she may have had a better chance in the game. Now that they are split up I must admit I am waiting to see if Chelsia strays away from James. So far not. I guess I am rooting for her a little bit. It was nice to see her topless and grinding like a stripper on that After Dark strip party orgy footage a few weeks ago. Oddly enough – Big Brother producers so far have opted to keep that stag party off the regular episodes. It was just too hard core dirty I guess… (more…)
Well, another season of Big Brother is upon us and that means more behind the scenes footage with BB After Dark on Showtime!
My HD Recorder (DVR) is already getting stuffed full of that raw footage and frankly I do not have time or the patience to watch a whole lot of it… mainly because I don’t want to spoil the CBS Big Brother episodes. (more…)
