Paris and Nicole are recognizable in one scene. Music from Celldweller intrigues in the next. And dialogue continues to stir and stun. |
And maybe Holt and Julia are K-Fed and Brit? Whatever the implications or allusions, the recap of the “Pap Smeared” episode of “Dirt” is best done by recapturing some of the stunning dialogue that continues to drive the show as hard as the characters move it:
We all Struggle to Stay Sane. I’m schizophrenic, so for me, it’s a little harder. Don Konkey
[Paris and Nicole] celebutantes…Tuesday Nelson and Lulu Hegel…famous for being famous. Lucy Spiller
[Lucy wants old reality TV show footage from MTV archives.]
I’ll have one of the interns go through the DVDs. Willa
No, I want you to do it. Lucy
It’s busywork. Willa
Then get busy. Lucy
You want me to squeeze the charities…. Dirt colleague
I know; how will I ever sleep? Lucy
I have a brother. He’s in jail. Marquis, Don’s new helper
Jason’s in Oregon. Like jail but with trees. Don
Patience, persistence, point of view. Three p’s. Like the three r’s, but they’re p’s. Don
Want to lay out the teapot and have a heart to heart? Lucy
We’d be one heart short. Brent Barrow
It’s a pass. Quinn’s agent stand-in/assist, Laura B.
But it was a great meeting. Julie
I know, but…. How’d you like to be killed on CSI? Laura
[Willa calls every cast member of every one of the eighteen seasons of MTV’s reality show (implicitly, “Real Life”)]
Well, we don’t have room for it in this issue, but I’ll keep it on hold.
[to new paparazzo/gossip mag head, Ozzie Ramiro] I hear you have a good relationship with the community—through your drug dealing. Lucy
[to his now hospitalized from getting ambushed assistant, Marquis, in a coma] Nobody will remember them—who they were fighting with, who they were screwing. Tomorrow will be another story. Nobody stays; nothing stays. Except this. [puts a film canister on hospital table]. Don Konkey
