Jonesing for Beauty and the Geek 3

The new Beauty and the Geek has supposedly started and therefore should have even completed the audition stage[s], but what’s the word on season three? |
The reality TV show with the demographics in the teen and guy range, which also calls to those of us who are female geeks but NOT all that beautiful, has for two seasons entertained us with standard reality TV challenges but not so standard features: eight geeks are selected to be matched with eight beauties. The pairs must meet both intellectual and superficial challenges. That is, there is a brainiac lesson and quiz or test and there is a challenge involving shopping and cosmetics and home décor.
Each geek lives
in the same bedroom as his selected – or selective – doll, and the pair studies like mad to fix car engines, change spark plugs, learn to give the best massages, set up computer desktop components and burn a CD, shop for the right sized outfits for subsequent fashion shows, and find the best makeover items and styles.
Also each week, and here’s where the typical reality TV show stuff comes in), there is an elimination session or ceremony, wherein the winning couple nominates the couple it wants out of the game.
For there is more at stake in the long run than a hot new look or some profound newly learned skills: the final two couples face-off, or brain-off, actually, getting tested on how well they have gotten to know their partners and answering questions about what their partners might say about certain personalities, characteristics, and topics.
The show ends as you might expect it to, with the beauty coming round to accept the ugly as a real person with real feelings and the geek coming to realize he has many valuable gifts that usually raise his originally lowered self esteem.
So the casting call was posted – for what was first an August deadline but which is now open-ended. Have we run out of less than thoughtful beauties and overly introverted geeks? Has everyone learned to come to terms with their stations in life?
Okay, then, how about, as many have mused on and suggested, and as some countries have attempted, a female geek with male beauty version of the show? Screw the majority demographic who watches for the t and a. We female brains appreciate male beauty, ya know … and have for centuries.
