So excited are we who have our shows to look forward to within the next two weeks and beyond. |
Now I understand when my grandmother, who worked some three jobs, would halt everything to watch what she called “my shows.”
Sure, they were the soaps, “The Guiding Light,” “As the World Turns,” etc., but her shows became my shows and then “my shows” took on a new meaning, from “The Brady Bunch” and “The Partridge Family” to “All My Children” and “General Hospital” to “Seinfeld” and “Boston Legal” to the reality TV line-up we are so graced by and addicted to.
Yay! New cycles begin, and those of us trying to come up with something to get fixated on, to no avail in the interim of finales and the premiere of long-standing programming, can rest assured our shows will stabilize us once again:
September 11th—A sore spot on the world’s calendar, maybe it will help to distract us with “The Biggest Loser” premiere of season 4
September 14th—Not that I am any indication, not even knowing of the existence of season one, but season two of “Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team” begins
September 18th—“Beauty and the Geek,” one of my favorites [okay, they’re ALL my favs], will return for its fourth season
September 19th—After a marathon showing of cycle 8 of “America’s Next Top Model” on Vh1, cycle 9 of ANTM will premiere. The thirteen girls have been named, but I will refrain from listing them here, in case you prefer to be
surprised. [If you want to see who will walk the runways of our Wednesday nights, check out Reality TV Calendar
September 20th—After too long a wait following the stunning conclusion of “Survivor Fiji,” we get the in some ways unique “Survivor: China”
September 24th—“Dancing with the Stars” will return for the fifth season. Competing for top place will be Jenny Garth, Jane Seymour, Marie Osmond, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Melanie Brown, Sabrina Bryan, Helio Castroneves, Mark Cuban, Josie Maran, Cameron Mathison, Wayne Newton, and Albert Reed
September 24th—also returning, for its eleventh season, is “The Bachelor”
September 26th—Season four of “Ghost Hunters” premieres
October 7th—a new, hopefully good tongue-in-cheek reality show airs called “America’s Most Smartest Model.” Or maybe it’s a spoof/sit-com?
October 8th—We obviously did NOT get enough with the first season, so fresh from the interactive stylings of Vh1 comes “I Love New York 2”
November 1st—Season five of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” begins
New dramas and sitcoms, or new seasons, also promise a GREAT fall, including “Boston Legal,” “Dexter,” and “Doctor Who,” among many, many others.
