VH1 has put together 40 greatest reality TV moments. Now, one would think that Reality Remix, with Kennedy, would suffice to give us recaps of recaps of recaps. But 40 Greatest Reality TV Moments gives us some fringe, marginal, on the edge, over the top clips and scenes that even REALITY REMIX has stayed away from. |
The first one I caught out of the corner of my 20-hour-a-day-TV-watching eye was Tom Green televising his testicular cancer, from diagnosis to recovery, to post-recovery Tom Green humor.
He had the cancer removed, which pretty much removed at least one testicle, then went on to sing a song to kids about checking their balls.
Then there’s Real World’s Puck, shown picking his nose in one moment and the next fingering the peanut butter to gulp down gobs. The Real World housemates gathered together to tell Puck – via conference call – that they wanted him out. Didn’t Puck go on to other shows, or do calendars, or something?
Flip This or Trading That participant gets a whole makeover – in a color she HATES; a drag queen truck driver is caught by cops and on tape walking to his semi in a leopard body suit; and P. Diddy is found to be forcing the finalists of Making the Band do a kind of frat boy rush task, walking through the city to find his favorite cheesecake.
Amazing Race season three contestants
Zach and Flo are featured next, for Flo is queen pissy, having tantrums every task that hosts and producers find ideal for TV. Paris and Nicole “turned the kissing booth upside down,” but not literally. And Busted favorite moment shows a disgruntled employee peeing in the boss’ coffee pot (and the judge asking whether the guy did this “before or after the coffee was made”).
Other greatest moments were tagged as those on American Idol, waiting for the results – Reuben or Clay; on Survivor, the willingness to forego culinary expectations and eat cooked rats; and two Extreme Makeover patients who were complete strangers to each other pre-show but soul mates post-show and makeover.
But just as you get into the clips
and hysterical quips, the 40 Greatest Reality TV Moments ends, forcing you to watch the next installment, dragging out the suspense the way Ryan Seacrest strings us along for Idol results. And so it’s only fair and apropos that I do the same to and for you, giving you the impetus to watch the top 20 segment yourself.
