Over the Christmas holiday while visiting family I finally removed the plastic off the DVD and watched every single episode of the first Survivor!
Which one was that… oh yeah… Survivor Borneo Season One.
I must admit I tried like crazy to NOT watch Survivor the first 4 or 5 seasons when it came out. I was one of those “no time for Reality tv” type peoples. That all changed with Survivor Thailand when I gave in and watched. I was immediately hooked.
So now, here I am in between Survivor Cook Islands and Survivor Fiji and I am having cravings for Survivor! So I did rapid fire burn through that season one DVD and I was very happy to see it. I must say that it was PALE by comparison to the current day Survivor shows as Jeff Probst and the gang have come a long way. But it was fun to see the rough and tumble creation of what would become a TV dynasty for Mark Burnett.
Now, I know you’ll think I am crazy but I was so into Survivor Borneo that I immediately jumped on Amazon and ordered up Season 2 Survivor Australian Outback. That was enjoyable as well but I must admit - several of the episodes were hard to watch - they did some annoying things with the audio and background music… sure - it was in Australia and Aborigines made weird music but this was an awful buzzing that covered up the dialog. It was in 2 later episodes particularly bad… they must have gotten bad audio from the contestants and needed to cover it up and make the footage work… ok - so that rant aside I too loved season two of Survivor on DVD…
If they OFFERED season 3 on DVD (Africa) I would now be watching it - but for some reason they have not released DVDs of season 3 (or 4 I believe???). What is up with that Mr. Burnett??? You are releasing NEWER seasons on DVD - why not the original earlier classics??? You are releasing them OUT of sequence! I want to see season 3 and 4!!! Oh well… Hollywood never listens to reason, so why am I asking…
Well, fortunately, Survivor 14, set in Fiji is coming in just a couple of weeks on Feb. 8th. Man! I can’t wait! You know, it may be difficult to wait each week as I have now become accustomed to being able to watch 2 or 3 episodes on the DVD each night… Naw… I’ll be ok…
