At Least it was Good Advertisement for Somebody

At Least it was Good Advertisement for Somebody by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Guest judge Adam Shankman and movie Hairspray [which actually looks good, though] get ample promotion, if nothing else.

Not sure why the most memorable parts of the fourth round of eliminations are the animated explorations of the lovely Mr. Shankman…but I am still foggy on who danced what and how

and why, etc. Maybe the Fourth of July break in the schedule contributed to my mental flurries. Maybe I am just getting tired of the awkward results of voting, voting gone awry, or judicial decisions that have nothing to do with democracy.

Here’s what I do recall enough to rehash for you:

The whole Jessi getting dismissed thing was so upsetting to viewers that they issued a petition to Nigel, Mary, and company: the signers claimed to not have voted Jessi off; Nigel defended their decision. That shut us all up…for the time being, anyway.

Lacey and Kameron danced the Hustle, choreographed by Maria Torres

Shauna and Cedric danced the Mambo, choreographed by Alex DaSilva.

Anya and Danny did a Contemporary routine choreographed by Tice DiOrio.

Sara and Pasha did a Swing choreographed by Benji Schwimmer!

Sabra and Dominick danced Hip Hop, choreographed by Shane Sparks.

Jamie and Hok danced a waltz choreographed by Toni Reopath.

And Lauren and Neil danced a Jazz number as choreographed by Wade Robeson.

Of the many comments from the judges, the most notable pointed toward how Hok’s dancing was not good enough to match Jaime’s beautiful lines; how Lauren and Neil’s dancing was about seeing, breathing, acting, and relationships; how

Danny is lacking magic; how Kameron’s dancing lacked magic; how the magic they had been looking for all along was in the dance of the night—done by Sara and Pasha; and how someone else was now added to Mary’s hot tamale train [I think Shauna].

HAVING to DANCE for THEIR LIVES

Anya – She is told that they have a real problem in the sense that she is very difficult to pin down during her solos, and while neither solo has been good enough, the judges believe she has grown, so if she stays in the competition she will have to seek that spark.

Jaime – She is told how wonderful she has been across the season, and Nigel adds that Adam told him how wonderful Jaime has been for him.

Shauna – Shauna is last of the women to hear her final critique and is obviously the one going home, so how much she heard of the comments is questionable: there is no question she is a wonderful dancer, Nigel tells her, which is why they chose her and why she is there in the top 10. However, her growth and personality are not as strong as they would like to have seen, so she is going home.

Danny
Cedric
Hok

I thought I went into a coma or something, as the men do not get individual critiques, and all of a sudden we hear what many have been thinking they should have heard weeks ago: Cedric is dismissed with a comment that while this is the end of his journey, they believe it is just the start of a long journey in dancing….

Best to Shauna and Cedric, then, riding the hot or not tamale train out of the studio.
