Survivor Inland and All-star to Boot?

Survivor Inland and All-star…as in non-Survivor Celebrity Cast? by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Some rumors have been confirmed, some are still circulating…and who knows which are which?

The fifteenth installment of “Survivor” is reported to be taking place not on an island—as fourteen other seasons were—but inland, in China.

It has also been conjectured that “Survivor: China” will be of an all-star composition.

And reports now as of yet barely confirmed, if that, include how one of the contestants are WWF pro wrestler Asley Massaro (according to TMZ, 6-13-07) and professional poker player Jean-Robert Bellande (according to the leaked rumor at the official CBS Survivor China site) will fight for the prize.

The all-star seasons have been awesome; the off-island seasons–inland for “Survivor: Amazon” season 6, or “Survivor: Outback” season 2, for example–were great (though the on-board ship living of “Pirate Master” contestants leaves a bit to be desired); and so it is hoped that a combo season of all-stars (not “Survivor” only stars?) will best the rest.

Will it? Will it be an inviting, intriguing, and rare (and, evidently, unprecedented—CBS airing American entertainment in/from China) glimpse into a 15,000-year-old culture with nineteen trying to outwit, outplay, outlast the others in that context? Will it be our favorite former “Survivor” stars—in the typical sense of the label,

all-stars—or will it be yet another platform for celebrities and therefore another celebreality offering?

Are we in for another “I’m a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here”? God help us if we are.

Granted, part of the interest in the award-winning series is in the speculations before the seasons begin. The secrets are well guarded, and the intrigue is enough to make any “Survivor” fan follow the progress and pre-production closely.

But enough with the vagaries and ambiguities! Leak something more, Burnett!
