Celebrity Apprentices to Give Some Back
Celebrity Apprentices to Give Some Back by Roxanne McDonald
In a “Surreal Life” meets “My Big Fat Stupid Boss” kind of charity coup, fourteen exceptional (or exceptionally infamous) business professionals in their own right, aside
from their talented reputations, will go for the challenges that have for five years (or six seasons, actually) had a specialized emphasis on succeeding with the nuances of entrepreneurship.
The rock legend with the nine-inch member (tongue, that is) will compete with a cosmetic makeover queen; the honey of television’s “Taxi”, a beauty turned health guru, will go head to head with an Ultimate Fighting Champ; a celebreality whore will battle wits with the most infamous of former “Apprentice” cheats.
A motley crew that would otherwise only appear on a list of who-would-you-want-to-inhabit-a-new-island or at an eclectic gathering like the Academy Awards, the group will substitute for “real” (non-celebrity) men and women such as former winners Sean, Randall, Kendra, Kelly, and Bill, and will participate in “business-driven” tasks that will ultimately “raise money and awareness for their respective causes.”
Carol Alt will play for The Tony Alt Memorial Foundation, created in 2006 to raise monies for a scholarship fund at Half Hollow Hills High School in Dix Hills and to provide financial
resources to select children’s charities.
Nadia Comaneci will play, quite appropriately, for The Special Olympics
Jennie Finche will play for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in honor of a friend who died of breast cancer and of family members who have lived through it.
Marilou Henner will play for The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, or PCRM.
Lennox Lewis will play in honor of his all-time hero, for The Muhammad Ali Center.
Gene Simmons will continue to support a charity he is adamant about helping to fight the atrocity of babies with AIDS, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Piers Morgan will play for Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which he finds personally significant to his brother having done two tours of duty in Afghanistan and to he and his brother having lost many “friends and comrades.”
Stephen Baldwin, seasoned reality star, who has lost a father to cancer and whose mother has survived a double mastectomy, will play for the charity he has with his brothers and mom founded and supported for years–The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.
Tiffany Fallon, Playboy Playmate and Miss Georgia, 2001, will play for
Walter Reed Society, an organization supporting the “educational, treatment, and research activities” of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC).
Tito Ortiz, UFC, will play for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of his many child fans.
Vincent Pastore will play in honor of his deceased buddy, Mitchell Berke, for a memorial fund of the same name which is supported and run by Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Omarosa Manigault Stallworth will play to “redeem” herself—for Positive Vibrations Youth Mentoring Program, at Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum in Compton.
Nely Galan will play for Count Me In, a charity benefiting the “champion[ing] of the cause for women’s economic independence by providing access to business loans, consultation and education.”
And Trace Adkins will play, in honor of his daughter who almost lost her life to an allergic reaction to peanut butter, for Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).
So while the benefits are beautiful and pure, the play by these fourteen will likely be anything but…with lots of ego-clashing and spirit bashing and whathaveyou.
