The Bachelor Rome brings us the most beautiful of sites, single women, and star of the show–Prince Lorenzo Borghese. |
The camera shots are majestic and magical, showing viewers the classic daytime villages, the classy and traditional legacy left to the newest bachelor–Borghese venues, and chic night spots, as well as the castle where the participants will stay for the duration of the show.
The women, too, are lovely to look at: they are tan and glowing, squeaky clean and cleverly dressed, and most appreciative of the opportunity to live out the possibility of the oldest cliche in childhood–meeting, falling in love with, and marrying a prince.
And this prince is charming. More, he is beautiful, dignified, and funny as hell.
Lorenzo Borghese is gorgeous to look at. He is fair-skinned and slight (unintimidating) in build. He dresses well, is dignified and quiet, and treats every woman as if she were already a princess: without gushing over her, for instance, on the first night when he is meeting the candidates, he speaks to their manner of dress, their jewelry, their hair…. To one woman he even compliments her sparkles (literal, not figurative).
But what makes this beautiful bachelor so, well, beautiful, is his incredibly delightful sense of humor. He jokes with a number of the women, commenting on the hypothetical possibility of getting rid of the crowd of women so he and one sweetie can be alone.
He
jokes with a number of the women as he mingles during the champagne affair, getting to know the women as much as possible in as short a time as he has.
And when two Italian women are introduced into the mix, he speaks to one in another room, asking her about her interests and activities, asking if she skis, if she likes to carry a gun and hunt humans, and trying to be as casual as he is while the clueless beauty–who speaks very little English–just gives him a “duh?” look.
Listen closely, folks, as you watch this season’s Bachelor, for while, yes, the glitz and glam and scandal (obsessions with the prince, cat fights, etc.) will be entertaining, Lorenzo Borghese’s beauty will be the focus, and who gets a rose will be the question…this princes humor is going to entertain those of us who appreciate some substance in our men…or our bachelors appearing on TV to get a date/wife they can’t get otherwise? Yeah. Riiight.
